Default Old Bottle Of Johnnie Walker Red Label

Hello all,

While visiting my grandfather yesterday he brought out an old bottle of Johnnie Walker Red that was given to him by a friend after their great grandfather passed away. The story is that the bottle was given to him when he was promoted while working at General Motors, but we have no clue when this happened. The bottle is very interesting, has a screw top? possibly, a taped label over the top that has the words GingerAle and some numbers, and a rope tie around it. It has an award label at the bottom as well. My grandfather would really like to find out when this bottle is from. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

*I have pictures but no clue how to post them on here!

Exclamation How to post photos on Whisky.com

We are happy to have your bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label dated, but need to have photos. If you need help posting - see below:

Click on Post Reply and and then to insert your photo, look for the paper clip icon (to the right of the smiley face). Click on it - a new window will open which gives you the option to browse your computer for your photo. Once you do that and Upload - close that window. If your photo does not attach, that means it's too big, so re-size and try again.

Once you're set and have closed out of that window, you'll be back to the main page with your question. Click on the paper clip icon again and it might say Insert Attachments" or it may just show numbers - go ahead and either click on Insert Attachments or just click on the numbers and it will insert into your message. You won't actually see the photo until you either
preview it (look to bottom of the body of your thread, below the icons and you'll see a button to either Submit New Thread or to Preview Post. Once you click on either of these, you will see your photos.

Please give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Your bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label has been dated based on the pack design from the 1930s. Canada Dry Ginger was the importer for Johnnie Walker in the USA at that time.

We'd love for you to post images here on the Whisky.com Forum for all of our members and guests to see. We can then have your JW Black bottles dated, and if fransodk can date them, that would great too!

I would say this is from 2005-2008. it is certainly not from before 2003, when this bottle type was introduced

Default What's this unique text inside?

Hello Guys,

I found this old bottle at home. I don't know what does this unique text mean inside (behind the label). I'm also curious how old is this bottle.
Do you have any clue?

The pictures of the bottle:

Thanks,

imotka/Tamas - this bottle is from the 1990s. the text on the inside of the main label is a bottling code - often the date is in this code if you can decipher it

Hey guys, my coworker just gave an old bottle of Johnnie Walker( guess he's not a fan haha).
I was wondering if you guys can determine the age of this one? I'm guessing somewhere between 1960's-70's...

How much do you think something like this would go for by the way?

Thanks in advance !

hi this is from the mid 1970s. due to the huge quantity of JW sold, these bottles are still quite easily available to collectors - worth approx. $30-40

Hi - this looks to be from the 1970s - a bottle intended for import into Japan originally

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can tell me a bit more about this bottle of red label, like from what period it is, if its a standard bottle and the value and so. It was a git that has sentimental value to me but I am curious. There is also a number behind the label, it's a bit unclear but I added a foto of it.
Thank you.

Apparently there are no foto's in my previous post si here's a second attempt.
