Getting There: If travelling down Main Street,
make a left at the bottom of the hill before you reach the
sea. When approaching from Brigend along Shore Street, cross
the Main Street and you can't miss it.
Reception & Info....There is no warmer
reception than from Julie Torrance and her team - a fantastic
bunch of girls in the visitor centre who welcome the visitors
with smiles and whisky. (Lynda, Lesley, Samantha and Heather).
Bowmore Distillery Visitor Centre provides a welcoming and
relaxing atmosphere - we have a beautiful sea-view bar with
a panoramic window looking out over Loch Indaal where you
can enjoy a complimentary dram of our 12 year old single malt.
Our Bar is open from 10am each morning and there are a number
of different tasting sessions available ranging from £12.00
to £27.00 which you can enjoy at your leisure ( there
are no set times for tastings at the bar - just pop in and
we will try to accommodate you best we can) you can also buy
single drams starting from £2.50 each.
We also have a DVD presentation available to watch in different
languages which shows our production methods from the beginning
right up to the end - this is helpful for those who struggle
to understand our Islay accent whilst on tour. (running time
15 mins).
The Craftsman's tour is a private visit to the distillery.
It is designed for people who have been on lots of Distillery
tours already and who are looking for more detailed information.
But it is also popular as a special treat for whisky enthusiasts
from all walks of life and with varying degrees of whisky
knowledge.
The tour can last up to two hours. Whilst on tour you will
visit each area of the distillery in turn and will witness
the entire whisky making process from beginning to end. At
the end of the our you will visit the 'number one vaults'
where you will have the rare opportunity to taste some Bowmore
whisky straight from the cask, this is followed by a second
tasting session in the visitor centre.
You must book the Craftsman's tour well in advance as spaces
are limited, the cost is £40.00 per person. These special
tours can be booked Monday to Thursday at either 10.30am in
